The Australasian Railway Association (ARA) is inviting women working in rail to apply for its Women in Rail Mentoring Program, an initiative designed to support professional growth and leadership development.

Delivered entirely online, the program pairs participants with experienced industry mentors who provide practical guidance, career insights, and ongoing support.

The program includes structured learning resources, interactive webinars, and professional development tools, enabling participants to build skills and networks throughout the year.

ARA said the initiative aims to strengthen workforce capability by supporting greater participation and progression of women in the rail industry.

Participants are encouraged to engage with industry leaders, expand their professional networks, and develop clear career pathways within the sector.

Applications are currently open, with places limited.

Key program dates include:

  • Sunday 15 March – Applications close
  • Monday 30 March – Matches confirmed
  • Monday 20 April – Program launch webinar
  • Wednesday 26 August – Progress review webinar
  • Sunday 6 December – Program close webinar

Mentors and mentees will be matched based on their applications and professional backgrounds.

To apply as a mentee, applicants must be current ARA members and women working in the rail industry.

Mentor applicants must be senior professionals in rail and hold current ARA membership.

Prospective participants can learn more about the program by viewing the online information webinar or downloading the information guide.

The Women in Rail Mentoring Program forms part of ARA’s broader efforts to support workforce development, diversity, and long-term capability across Australia’s rail sector.
