New Transport NSW program supporting innovation

The New South Wales Government has launched Gateway to Innovate, an Australian-first program that is designed to support industry in piloting innovations on Transport NSW projects.

Transport NSW has said that innovation is happening across its sites every day – but it is sporadic and often misses the opportunity to be applied at scale. Sometimes better ideas or improvements can be stifled by the tried and tested ways of doing things.

Gateway to Innovate is designed to challenge this view by providing a unique opportunity for industry to partner with Transport NSW to test innovations on some of Australia’s most complex and high-profile projects.

Through Gateway to innovate, Transport NSW is looking for innovations that create new approaches to old challenges, adapt ideas from other industries or improve established ways of working on its projects.

Transport for NSW said that it wants to create an environment for innovation to thrive, to partner with innovators to try new things, learn from failure and harness creative thinking to uplift the productivity of the entire sector.

Transport NSW is calling for industry to submit their innovative trials. Submissions will close on 5 July, and offers and trials are set to begin in the late months of 2024.
