As the Pacific region undertakes a generational uplift in infrastructure, Australian firms are uniquely placed to lead and benefit. But knowing where to start, who to speak to, and how to engage in a complex regional environment can be a barrier for even the most experienced contractors.
That’s where Austrade’s Pacific Infrastructure Pipeline Program (PIPP) is designed to help.
Backed by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), and in collaboration with partners such as the the Department of Defence, Asian Development Bank (ADB), World Bank, and Export Finance Australia, the PIPP is designed to help Australian contractors, consultants, suppliers and developers explore and engage with the growing pipeline of Pacific infrastructure projects; many of which are open to Australian participation.
A US$1.9 billion pipeline
The PIPP provides visibility into over US$1.9 billion in upcoming tenders in the region across sectors like energy, marine infrastructure, and transport. These are projects that deliver long-term social and economic impact, and therefore require proven delivery capability.
Who needs the PIPP?
Austrade is particularly encouraging engagement from civil contractors, infrastructure consultants, engineering and project management firms, and specialist suppliers. Those with experience in remote logistics, government contracting, and climate-resilient design will benefit.
Reducing risk, connecting capability
While the opportunities are significant, the Pacific also presents operational complexities. These might entail local partnerships, compliance requirements, logistics and procurement pathways that vary by country.
